Orthodontic
Orthodontics aims to correct dental and jaw misalignments.
Malpositions can have different origins:
- genetic origins: for example, several individuals in a family have the same malpositions
- functional origins: for example, thumb sucking or mouth breathing can lead to many malpositioned teeth
To correct these malpositions, the practitioner first performs a clinical examination. Then, after studying additional documents such as:
- x-rays
- intra-oral photographs
- dental prints
Orthodontics for children :
Parents usually take their child to an orthodontist for the first time at around the age of 7 and up to 11 years of age. At this age, permanent teeth coexist with baby teeth, and it is often at this time that abnormalities become apparent.
Orthodontics for adults :
Overlapping teeth, misaligned teeth, teeth that are too far forward… There is no age limit for orthodontic treatment. The indications for adult orthodontics are identical to those for children.
This orthodontic treatment consists of a transparent mouthpiece that realigns the teeth. The thermoplastic material is more comfortable than metal. It does not scratch the tongue or lips and does not cause irritation, especially as the appliance can be removed if the feeling of pressure becomes intolerable.
