The risks

Periodontitis germs not only endanger our oral health but also pose a threat to our entire body. Bacteria can enter the bloodstream through the gum and socket and can spread throughout your body. There is a higher risk for coronary and circulatory diseases.

Other risks include diabetes, osteoporosis and respiratory disease. In pregnant patients with periodontal disease the risk of premature delivery is much higher.

In the case of gum recession, gum can be recreated by modern gum “plastic surgery” techniques.
